There’s something beautifully ridiculous about The Wombats, and that’s exactly why I love them. The band just announced a brand-new tour for 2025, and honestly, few groups make indie-pop this joyfully weird. Whether they’re singing about tech addiction, heartbreak, or dancing through existential crises in pastel suits, The Wombats have a knack for turning chaos into charm.
The upcoming tour promises plenty of that energy — big choruses, bouncy guitars, and the kind of self-aware humor that made them cult favorites back in the Let’s Dance to Joy Division days. If past shows are anything to go by, expect confetti, crowd sing-alongs, and frontman Matthew Murphy’s signature blend of melancholy and mischief.
Of course, The Wombats have grown up a bit, but their sense of fun hasn’t dulled. They’ve always been that rare band that can make you laugh while quietly breaking your heart. And while I’m excited to see what surprises they have in store this time, one of my all-time favorites remains “Blood on the Hospital Floor.” It’s dark, catchy, and absurd in the most perfect Wombats way.
So before you grab your tickets, here’s the video — a reminder of why this band still feels fresh, clever, and, yes, wonderfully goofy after all these years.
